ABOUT US

Peninsula Internal Medicine physician group  has been providing comprehensive Internal Medicine services to our patients, especially in the central and southern parts of the Mornington Peninsula as well as the eastern regions such as Hastings, Somerville and Tyabb.

We have admission rights to all the acute private and public hospitals on the Peninsula. However, as we are based in Mornington, we are in a position to focus our admissions, in particular, to Beleura and The Bays Hospitals, who have given us their full backing and support.

 

We have outreach clinics in Frankston and McCrae.

 

We will provide a comprehensive service to GP’s, Surgeons, Emergency Departments and fellow Physicians who practice outside our specialties e.g. Oncology, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Pain Medicine etc.

  • Our group is committed to providing a quick turnaround for all referrals. 

  • Our office staff will endeavour to fit your patient in as quickly as possible amongst our group. 

  • Urgent consultations can be provided if requested. 

  • Prompt feedback/communication will be provided by letter/Argus or a phone call as necessary.

  • Billing details: Out of pocket fees will apply for consultations.

  • We will cross-cover for each other during holidays, conferences and sick leave etc.

  • We will return your patient to you for ongoing care as soon as our assessment and follow up is completed.

Qualified from the University of Ceylon, Colombo and then travelled to the U.K. obtaining the MRCP (UK) and trained with dual accreditation in General and Geriatric Medicine in Guys Hospital, London.  He migrated to Australia in 1990, awarded the FRACP in 1992 and settled on the Mornington Peninsula that same year.  He has worked here ever since in both the public and private sector. He was an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Medicine at Monash University, an IMG teacher at AMA House and examiner for the AMC and FRACP exams.  He sits on the Medical Advisory Committees of three hospitals on the Mornington Peninsula. He is a former Chairman of the Medical Staff Association of Peninsula Health and the Peninsula AMA Sub-Division of which he is a current Committee member.

A dual trained Geriatrician and General Physician.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Geriatric Medicine. He completed his training as an Aged Care specialist in South Eastern Melbourne.  He was trained at Peninsula, The Alfred, Monash and Eastern Healths.

Dr Kapil Gupta is the Director of Rehabilitation at Beleura Private Hospital, Mornington, Victoria and looks after both inpatients and outpatients at the hospital along with his other rehab colleagues.  He has extensive experience working in both public and private health sectors and currently has public appointments within Peninsula Health and Monash Health.  His main public inpatients for rehabilitation are at Rosebud Hospital.

 

Rehabilitation Medicine entails the management of disability, not just physical but also cognitive and psychological with a holistic approach on improving functional outcomes, whether that be to return to walking, return to driving, return to work or for leisure and other meaningful entities.

 

After graduation from the prestigious Grant Medical College and completing his basic and advanced Physician training in India, he migrated to Australia in 2003.  Thereafter he underwent advanced training in Rehabilitation Medicine in a variety of accredited posts in teaching hospitals in Southern, Eastern, Alfred and finally Peninsula Health.  This encompassed the full range of rehabilitation programs of Neuro, Ortho, Cardiac, Amputee, Spinal and Brain Injury (ABI) as well as Chronic Pain and Reconditioning at various institutions especially in South-East Melbourne and the City.

 

This is the experience and expertise that he would be able to offer patients on the Mornington Peninsula in a private sector setting, for General Practitioners and fellow Specialists in other disciplines, e.g. Surgery, Oncology, Cardiology and Gastroenterology etc.  Following an assessment, a comprehensive rehabilitation plan will be formulated and sent back to the referring practitioner.

Dr. Sam Jasinarachchi completed post-graduate training at Peninsula, Alfred, Monash, Eastern and Austin Health Services in a variety of medical specialties and has a special interest in Perioperative Medicine and Mental Health liaison work. Dr. Jasinarachchi has also done work in Haematology at Monash and Alfred Hospitals.  He can provide and co-ordinate comprehensive general medical management for patients with multiple co-morbidities.

Dr. Navin Amarasinghe FRACP, is a highly qualified and experienced Australian trained Geriatrician and General Physician. Dr. Navin has undergone extensive training in both Geriatrics as well as General medicine. He underwent most of his training at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.

Dr. Navin holds a part time position at Peninsula Health across Frankston hospital and Rosebud hospital. He is also an adjunct lecturer at the Monash University. Navin is extensively involved in cognitive assessment and falls prevention for inpatients at Peninsula health. He has developed several guidelines and policies related to delirium, falls prevention, and assessment for sub-acute services.
